Smokey Stover Arrives at Old Friends
October 15, 2009 – Smokey Stover arrives at Old Friends for his retirement after earning over $500,000 in his career. Smokey has been looking for a retirement facility since his owner passed away last year. Michael Blowen, founder of Old Friends was kind enough to offer Smokey a dignified retirement with buckets of carrots and lots of visitors until the end of his days.
Commentator Retires to Old Friends
Winning over $2,000,000 in his career, Tracy and Carol Farmer chose to retire Commentator to Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm. He will be leaving on October 4th, joining other retirees such as Black Tie Affair and Tour of the Cat.
Thank you Tracy and Carol Farmer for doing right by this horse and also Nick Zito for caring for him so well during his racing career. Michael Blowen says Commentator is “retiring completely sound”.
The Farmers will be donating stallion seasons to help support Old Friends and Commentator. As always, thank you Michael for opening your farm and your heart for the great retirees.
I am looking forward to seeing Smokey Stover arrive soon too! I spoke to Sharla and she is arranging transport from CA to KY.
